The aim of this dissertation was to analyse the impact of immigration on the roles and identities of women, as represented in the works of Djura, a French writer of Algerian origin. A qualitative content analysis of the following works was conducted: Le Voile du silence (1990) and La saison des narcisses (1993). Three principal themes emerged from the textual analysis: the search for Identity, the Role of Gender and the themes of Silence and Voice. Each theme was then examined separately although the themes were in many ways interconnected. The analysis was supported with relevant theory and appropiate quotations from Djura's texts.
