This study set out to investigate women and their involvements in the Resistance in France during the German Occupation of World War 2 in order to discover the roles they undertook, thier motivations, their backgrounds and the impact their involvement had on their families. The meaning of Resistance had to be clarified. Did it mean being involved in direct military action, being a member of a particular network or movement or were there other forms of Resistance?
